In doing so, Air Canada becomes the first carrier to provide a direct Montreal-Delhi route.

 

At the same time, the number of flights between Toronto and Delhi will increase to 10 per week from Friday.

The airline said last September that it intended to launch the new Montreal-Delhi route "when market conditions improve".

The company also offers flights between Vancouver and Delhi, while its direct connections to Mumbai are expected to resume later.

 

Remember that air links between Canada and India were suspended last April, in order to limit the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19, which was then spreading like wildfire in India.

 

The federal government finally authorized the resumption of these flights five months later, in September, but with additional COVID-19 testing conditions for travelers departing from India.
